Advanced Surface Ablation is CustomVue applied to the surface of the cornea.  This procedure is generally accepted as safer than LASIK as it eliminates the risk associated with the creation of the "flap".  PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is a two-step procedure where 1) the epithelium (surface cells) is removed then 2) the Excimer laser is used to sculpt the surface of the cornea.
